OVHcloud's New BARE METAL Servers: 4th Gen AMD EPYC at Dedicated Server Prices
OVHcloud has refreshed its dedicated server lineup with AMD EPYC 4th Gen processors. New Rise and Advance configurations offer substantial performance improvements at unchanged prices.
OVHcloud has announced a sweeping refresh of its dedicated server lineup, moving the Rise and Advance ranges to 4th generation AMD EPYC processors (Genoa) while maintaining existing pricing. The upgrade represents a 30-50% performance improvement over the previous generation for the same monthly cost.

Hetzner still undercuts OVH on price at the entry level (ā¬24.90 for the AX41 with more cores), but the new OVH hardware has better single-thread performance (Zen 4 vs Zen 3) and PCIe 5.0 support. Both are excellent value; the choice depends on workload and location preference.
What's Not Changing
Setup times still 24-72 hours. OVH's manual verification and provisioning process hasn't changed. If you need instant provisioning, use their Public Cloud or a competitor with automated deployment.
Support still ticket-based. The hardware improves; the support model doesn't.
Unmetered bandwidth at 1 Gbps. OVH's bandwidth policy remains generous ā 1 Gbps unmetered on all dedicated servers, with fair use.
Anti-DDoS included. VAC (VACuum cleaner) DDoS protection remains standard on all OVH servers.
The IPMI/KVM Situation
A notable improvement: the new servers include HTML5 KVM-over-IP (keyboard, video, mouse remote access) as standard. Previous OVH dedicated servers sometimes required requesting KVM access, which could take hours. The new HTML5 KVM is always available through the OVH Manager.
This matters if you need to:
- Install a custom OS through ISO

Our Take
OVHcloud's hardware refresh is a welcome update that keeps their dedicated server lineup competitive without increasing prices. The move to 4th gen EPYC processors, DDR5 RAM, and standard IPMI addresses several long-standing OVH pain points (remote access, aging hardware).
The dedicated server market is healthier than the cloud industry would have you believe. For consistent, predictable workloads, dedicated servers offer 3-10x better price-to-performance than equivalent cloud instances. OVH and Hetzner's continued investment in dedicated hardware proves this market isn't going anywhere.
