Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information HostHandbook collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to keep this short and readable rather than burying the important parts in legalese.

Who we are

HostHandbook ("we", "us", "our") is an editorial hosting resource operated by the team behind OpsHelp. This policy covers the website at hosthandbook.com. You can reach us at contact@opshelp.com.

Information we collect

HostHandbook is a static, content-focused site. We do not require accounts, and we do not ask you to log in. The information we may collect falls into three groups:

Information you give us

When you use our contact form or get-matched form (or email us directly), we collect the information you provide — typically your name, email address, and message. No account is required. We use this solely to respond to your enquiry or to send you the recommendation you requested — never for profiling or advertising.

Our forms are not mailto: links. When you submit, the details are sent securely to our server endpoint (/api/contact), protected against spam and bots by Cloudflare Turnstile, and then delivered to our inbox at contact@opshelp.com using Resend, an email delivery provider that processes the message on servers in the United States.

Information collected automatically

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-friendly and cookieless — it sets no cookies and does no cross-site tracking. Our hosting provider may record standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and referring page to keep the site secure and reliable. This is used only in aggregate to understand which content is useful — never to build advertising profiles.

Information from affiliate partners

When you click an affiliate link to a hosting provider, that provider may set its own cookie to attribute a referral to us. We never receive your payment details or account credentials — only confirmation that a referral occurred. See our Cookie Policy and Affiliate Disclosure for details.

How your information is processed

We rely on a small number of carefully chosen service providers:

  • Hosting & security: the site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare Turnstile protects our forms from spam and bots.
  • Analytics: Cloudflare Web Analytics — privacy-friendly and cookieless (no cookies, no cross-site tracking).
  • Email delivery: form submissions are delivered by Resend (resend.com) to contact@opshelp.com; Resend processes them on servers in the United States.

We do not sell your data and we do not run advertising trackers.

How we use your information

  • To respond to questions, corrections, and suggestions you send us.
  • To provide hosting recommendations when you use the get-matched form.
  • To understand which articles and tools are most useful and improve them.
  • To maintain the security, performance, and integrity of the site.
  • To track affiliate referrals so we can be credited for sign-ups we send.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except the service providers (such as our hosting and email providers) we rely on to operate the site, and only as needed for those purposes.

Legal bases (UK GDPR / GDPR)

Where data protection law applies, we rely on the following legal bases: your consent (for non-essential cookies), the performance of a request you make to us such as answering your email (contract / pre-contract steps), and our legitimate interests in running, securing, and improving a free editorial resource. You can withdraw consent or object at any time.

Data retention

We keep correspondence only as long as needed to handle your request and any reasonable follow-up, then delete it. Aggregated, anonymised analytics may be retained longer because they no longer identify you.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to certain processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email contact@opshelp.com and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. If you are in the UK or EU and believe we have handled your data improperly, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

HostHandbook is intended for a general, professional audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves or as the law changes. When we make material changes, we will update the date below. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
